I had the same problem before… computer ran for 5 years with just the weight of the heatsink holding it down. Just keep the motherboard horizontal

it was marketed here (north america) as an australian beer… i think their slogan was “australian for beer” at some point. also parodied heavily in the simpsons episode in australia…
never heard of any associations with japan or england
Any famous beer that is associated with a country is usually shit… Like molson canadian, fosters, or bud light
It took me a while to realize guinness falls firmly into this category as well
$alias fewer = ‘less’
I’ve never heard of robert baker, but the less/fewer “rule” makes sense and just “sounds” more correct intuitively. Maybe just bias, having been tainted by this “rule”
I fixed it be going into settings and all types of apps
I trust the debian repo because fortune 500 companies run debian and rely on it
F-droid repo doesnt have the same level of scrutiny
I moved a lot of my foss apps over to f-droid. But i’m a little worried about security.
The odds of a bad actor being able to takeover f-droid and update my keepass app with a malicious version seems a lot higher than someone being able to do the same google play, right?
Yeah… Fuck me, for trying to compensate someone for their work so that they dont have to sell it to a spyware company… I’m the moron here

If you dont pay for apps, they will 100% be enshittified
Hilarious that you read enough cory doctorow to know the term “enshittification” but don’t know what “free” software really means
deleted by creator
That would be a terrible precedent…
Oh we’ll just “cleanly” (silently) update to a different fork by a different dev.
Thats exactly what we are trying to avoid google play “cleanly” updating our apps to the new, spyware apps
Wtf. I paid for the apps to avoid exactly this…
Too many people think the “free” in free software means “without monetary cost”. Development costs money. If nobody pays, it gets sold
Uhhhhh. The article you linked says nothing about “free as in air”, which is the term you used. And thats the only reason i used it
Free as in speech or free as in freedom are the english similes to express the idea of libre
Free air or free beer are gratis. Without monetary cost.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gratis_versus_libre?wprov=sfla1
Free software is always libre and sometimes gratis
The “free” in FOSS stands for free like freedom, not free like air
FOSS projects cost time and money. Non-profits still need money. Not sure why everyone thinks everything should be free of monetary charges on the internet.
Am am not sure what the situation of opensubtitles is. Is it just barely covering costs? Or turning a profit? I have no idea. But i do hate how everyone thinks they’re entitled to free work and free hosting costs of every website on the internet
Battery life pls
All the extra processing power we have these days is just used up by unneccessary tracking and surveillance bullshit
Should have long term funding structures in place (longer than election cycles) so that you dont have different political parties influencing things once elected into power
i think its a bit more simple than that
If a product is really good experience for you (ie. Not crammed with ads) AND you dont pay anything for it, then it’s not profitable.
Google didnt become one of the biggest companies in the world by doing volunteer work for your benefit
They only exist to show ads and/or harvest your data. Once those goals are met, then the user doesnt matter. They NEVER mattered
