Okay, finally ran into a conflict that I noticed. Wonder how many passwords I’ve lost throughout the years. I got back the account that was swallowed but I’d much prefer this didn’t happen in the first place. Other than making it a habit to sync (with syncthing) before editing a database it doesn’t seem like there’s a built-in solution for this. The problem is that keypass always performs a two-way sync (sync two files, modify two files). Guess I’ll see how hard it would be to make a one-way sync plugin or if some other variant does one-way.

Very good point. We often do one PR per story so people tend to think that’s a limit.

I have a rule about this (not that I don’t break it at times). I only refactor in an unrelated story if it doesn’t delay deliverables and existing tests cover the code.

And you’re generally right about tech that not being prioritized, but you should have a talk with your product manager/owner to strike a deal for some small percentage of your work to include tech debt. We were able to convince ours that it was otherwise affecting our velocity.

That wasn’t me, but that also used to be me. I learned to pick my battles, especially with complex code bases, and tried to keep scope creep in the name of improvement to like a dozen lines (provided it was fully tested).

Other than reasons of price (V1 is about as much as the latest models unless you go used) my V1 doesn’t auto detect when plugged into my TV. Wouldn’t mention it if my TV didn’t lock the controls and take a full minute to say, “I got no clue”.

I’ve had a lot of conflicts over the years of doing this but as you say keepass is good at merging. You’d only run into trouble if you change the file in two locations before syncing (file conflict) AND the time was way off on one of them (wrong change applied) AND you have no way of resetting your password.

I dunno about the way Lemmy stores data but I’m willing to bet a similar request could be made to a Lemmy hoster and as a regular person, most likely not a company, they’d be far less likely to push back. Wondering if a future evolution of the platform needs to be a little more anonymous (e.g. no IP retention, no email retention, optional ability to post anonymously while logged in).

Thanks, I didn’t know that was a VLC setting. It’d be nice if there was some type of standard for language and audio tracks etc. so there’s less chance of error due to free typing the name of a track.

Yeah, I do have my jelly fin set up to select English tracks by default but I’ve still had issues with the wrong track being selected. Maybe this was due to poor labeling of the audio tracks but that’s still something that never happens with a regular streaming service so my family is more resistant to use the self-hosted programs.

Not always, but occasionally I have issues with playing a video and the language not being my preferred (English). Either the video doesn’t have English audio or it’s not the default. Not a biggie but it can waste some time if there’s no talking for the first few min and my family isn’t used to navigating audio settings.

Was using CinemaHD so far. Stremio looks nice but I’d prefer Jellyfin become the new go-to app for media so we’re not still flipping back and forth between apps.

I paid for 15 days of Real Debrid and other than running into a lot of non-English streams it’s been great. If I can get it convenient to download shows automatically (I’ve heard of ways to integrate with arr services) I might start cancelling services.
