Well, Tony Stark is a fictional character in a fictional universe, so real science or how the real world works in general don’t need to apply to him and he only needs to conjure up some cool sounding tech words for the audience and the plot will do the rest. So Elon Musk is indeed like Tony Stark, only issue is he is also indeed the real life version so has no plot to back him up and all the rules of real life still apply.

I work in a customer service call centre and I vastly prefer those outright cancellation calls to anything with strings attached because it’s less work for me, though in my case the company lets me just process the cancellation outright with minimal groveling.

They will do what every other buy-happy tech company does and strip all the charm from those apps and turn them into the same horrible, corporate, enshitified apps that they were originally supposed to be an alternative to.

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do.

Doing the absolute bare minimum to not be consumer hostile does not warrant praise. Just because Nintendo or Apple are worse doesn’t mean Valve is heroic for not doing things they really shouldn’t have the right to do anyway.

Yep, and the manufacturer can’t even be bothered to spend that much more money to include a high quality stand with a thousand dollar TV with already high profit margins. Somehow, having to throw the default OEM parts in a landfill because they’re intentionally low quality and barely usable and being forced to buy a passable replacement separately is just a thing that they expect us to do now. Yep, that’s what I figured happened when they went from proper swivel pedestals to those stupid wedges. Hell even computer monitors are joining in on the action, the number of brand new, fairly high end and expensive monitors whose stock base is just bolted to the back and have zero adjustments is ridiculous.
