I barely use GIMP, but years ago I heard about it and gave it a go. It simultaneously opened three or four seemingly random windows and no actual workspace as far as I can tell. I immediately gave up. It wasn’t until recently that I had a reason to try again, and at this point I had forgotten the absurd situation I ran away from the first time. Luckily they’ve made some improvements since then. It’s still a bit obtuse, but I hear a big update is coming soon that might fix some of the UI issues?

Yeah I actually hear they’re a shit company, but the idea that they’re somehow pulling one over on the people who donate is fucking rich.

Eh I mean alphabet and Google do have legitimate reasons for antitrust lawsuits, but that’s independent of how shit Google search has become.

Anyway, for those who are fed up with the terrible results, use Ecosia. I’ve basically never needed to use anything else and the advertising money goes towards planting trees responsibly to rebuild ecosystems.

It would depend on how you set up your proportional system. There’s a million ways to do it. Under my favorite system, 5-member proportional districts, yes, Harvey would have been elected. The legislator is cut into districts, each district has five members, who are elected using some proportional or semi-proportional method (again, I like harmonic approval). Harvey likely would have won one of the seats in his local district.

I’d have to look up the previous method San Francisco used in order to understand how the council used to work. The proportional method might have been pretty terrible.

I prefer Approval Voting, but no voting system by itself will solve the two party system. We need to move to proportional representation. Something like 5 member districts using Sequential Proportional Approval Voting would be ideal.

But really, anything is leagues ahead of single-winner “choose one.”

Almost certainly the answer. Same reason they just hobbled their “ok Google” by not letting you access it with the screen off anymore. They’re going to switch engines and they want to reintroduce the same features all over again but make it feel like an upgrade.

In my opinion, we shouldn’t waste time in the courts arguing over whether a claim or offer made by an algorithm is considered reasonable or not. If you want to blindly rely on the technology, you have to be responsible for its output. Keep it simple and let the corporations (and the people making agreements with a chatbot) shoulder the risk and responsibility.

It is my opinion that a company with uses a generative or analytical AI must be held legally responsible for its output.

Does Glass Door have non-office jobs listed? I haven’t looked on there in quite a while but it was the same idea in a more general sense.
