I’ll be staying on 10 for as long as possible, so that by the time I have to upgrade people will have found ways to mod most of the bullshit out of the newer version.

Not saying you’re wrong, but there’s a lot of peace of mind in knowing everything on the platform is drm free, rather than having to do some research. So it is marketing, but it’s also a promise of curation so to speak.

I just call places like that and tell the service rep the website didn’t work. They do it for me on their end usually and it costs the company more money for the trouble.

Server checks aren’t always just an arbitrary gate at the start so this makes sense. For example, if the game has unlockable things (paid or not) and those things sync across multiple devices, then server checks to make sure your progress get saved and merged together properly can be woven through the whole game.

To give you some background on the term, it refers to rich land owners in England who had a lot of inherited wealth through the estates they owned (landed, meaning they own land). I think by market share percentages alone there will be a significant number of people that have no idea ad block is going away, and who knows, some of them may make the switch if they look into it.

Yeah this happened during the Napster era and it was so incredibly unpopular and unsympathetic with the general public that it didn’t continue after a while. Suing a single mom on food stamps for thousands of dollars because her teenage son downloaded a game one time is a truly abominable look for a company.

I’m too far out of the dating pool to give to you much advice, but one thing I’ll say is don’t worry too much about the response time thing… that was a thing I worried about too, but the reality is if the person really likes you, they won’t mind, they’ll like hearing from you. Just don’t start hounding someone if THEY haven’t responded. If someone isn’t responding much that’s a sign they’re probably not as interested as you are, and you might need to let that one slip.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does it do to your experience practically speaking? Are the prices going up? Is it difficult to purchase things in USD because of having to convert currency?
