Not OP but many Linux project I follow, since they don’t have many resources, publish their releases through Torrent, a seeebox is fairly cheap (something like €10 a month) and could be easily crowdfunded even for a small project, and isn’t a huge expense anyway. And the site could just be a static page, or better yet the magnet link could be aviable on Github for people that want the precompliled binaries instead of the source.

Windows 8(.1) was still utter trash, I actually "down"graded to windows 7 at the time and it was a bliss.

(it wasn’t the non-stop-ads kind of trash, but the UI suited a tablet more than a desk/laptop)

I usually try qbittorrent + plug-ins (1337x and others) with that you can search for stuff directly from the torrent client which is great. If it’s not there I’ll usually look up on btdig or similar torrent indexers, after that, I’ll send the files to my server via FTP.

Even if YT gave all the money to the creators, ads are so cheap nowadays that it would need them approx 20.000 ad views just to pay a month of premium (and that’s assuming every cent goes to them) big creators and publishers sure make money out of ads, in the end they get millions of views. But a smaller creator thst works hours upon hours on a video is making probs less than minimum wage through ads. Ergo If they want to make money they need to rely on generous people.

If you really wanna support them give them a dollar on PayPal, to a creator 1000 views are worth 1/2dollars, ergo it’s pretty hard for them to make even just a mere dollar off of you through ads, I block all ads and donate when their content is useful/entertaining

Not panCat but I’ve been using Mint (cinnamon) for a couple of months now, it’s snap-less Ubuntu (snaps are a controversial packaging format, plenty of videos on that) with a Windows 10-esque UI and lots of actually useful apps pre-installed OOTB, 9/10 can recommend (not 10 bcs it looks a bit…old,but I guess you can customize it or put KDE if u want)

Seconding that, made the switch and nothing broke since(almost 2 months now, ^o) . Can’t say that for windows tho, where not only auto updates meant I had to wait half an hour to use my PC half of the time or disable them and not be up to date with security, but the OS itself was riddled with problems, sometimes just opening Firefox with a few tabs (like 4 or so) would bsod (and I have 16 gigs of ddr4 ram, so it wasn’t a ram problem) not to mention now that I’m on Mint everything is faster, I didn’t have to pay a license key and I know my OS isn’t trying to fight me for my data.

I’ve been back in pirating for almost 2 years now yet my setup is really basic, just qbittorrent, 1337x and a VPN (not really necessary, but may become in the near future because… National politics) Ive just bought a server and think of upping my game with the -arr “suite” and jellyfin (which I’ve set up, but I didn’t host anything) I’m just too lazy and it’s too easy to just open 1337x and search for a torrent.
