There are some in development! Gotosocial is very very single user friendly and easy to setup and so is writefreely. I do hope in time there is a “lemmy lite” version that has local communities disabled completely and more local user friendly settings. It likely will in time, but we will see.
It’s gradually improving but its 100% not ready for full production outside of enthusiasts who are willing and patient enough to take the time and effort to wrangle with its quirks. If you want to self host (especially as a single user) and aren’t prepared to make vigorous backups and aren’t extremely technical inclined/are a regular average user it’s *really *not worth it right now. It likely will be in time, but there’s a lot of issues with lemmy that need to be addressed. Thankfully the coming update will address some of its most serious though. It helps to be involved in the admin matrix community chats and generally accepting community assistance, but it’s just far too much to keep on top of for most people. If I didn’t have a community and mine was a single user instance, I 100% would have shut it down weeks ago and migrated over to a larger instance.
I think having a means of viewing uploaded images as an admin would be helpful, as well disabling external image caching. Like an “uploaded” gallery for admins to view that can potentially hook into Photodna/CSAI-Match or whatever.
Please, please, please do not blame yourself for this. This is not your fault. You did what you were supposed to do as a mod and stepped up and asked for help when you needed to, lemmy just needs better tools. Please take care of yourself.

Next time the lemmy join page needs to be improved so people can spread and don’t try to centralize into a single instance and break the purpose of lemmy in the first place.
It came after I was arguing with weirdo antisemites in c/atheistmemes so I assume it was because of that but I have no idea and don’t really care to know that much

I don’t even think threads would be all that compatible with lemmy even if they implemented activitypub support, the way it interacts with mastodon is janky at best
People shouldn’t be congregating on a single instance anyway. The federation shouldn’t be focused on trying to make centralization, communities and people need to spread out
I wish they were visible to others or had an admin option to add it the modlog cause people write some funny shit in there 😭
If not supporting means you feel that we don’t deserve civil rights then yeah they should be banned

Lemmy.world admins, I am truly asking you to please reflect on how bad this looks. It honestly makes you seem like you can’t handle criticism and if people get that vibe they will use it to absolutely fuck with you. I know from my own personal experience. I understand that you’re volunteers but this is a step in a very bad direction that will only serve to cause more issues.
The “ight I’m out” ban note was… hm. Not a great look. Comes across as petty and vindictive.

Please make announcements on lemmy instead of exclusively on discord moving forward. That is the biggest issue here, the lack of public transparency. Such a decision affects all instances, not just lemmy.world and making it publicly known is important
