Opinion: Not if that community advertises itself to know/care about open source. Using a proprietary, privacy unfriendly service which uses predatory marketing to get people to spend money on bs stuff and arbitrarily paywall functionalities is both anti open source and anti people. Its enabling those companies. One could maybe argue for a strict bridge which only server to connect those who resist foss platforms.

If a company makes millions (let alone billions) while all but the top 1-5% of their artists have to fight for scraps, piracy is the only good option. Dont buy from billion dollar companies at all. Support artists individually and let labels rot.

Check out forgejo. While git is „decentralized“ it is not discoverable. Forgejo is pretty much there afaik using ap protocol.

Wooow! It was 45 $ per year for the one I wanted. Might be due to the shortness of the domain. I cant remember the provider. But namecheap was 130 $ a year and godaddy as well.

I’m not really talking about making it unable to be taken down, which is already what happens when you put it in a non public repo. I’m talking about exhausting the corpo and damaging their image for going after people using software to play their bought games on their pc. It could kick off a trend of peeps shaming corpos (especially nintendo) for going after legit players who want control of their devices and property. (whoever feels like pointing out that “technically you just own a license”, just dont).
