If you save it on your computer instead of on their servers, how could they possibly be expected to analyze your data? Come on now, be reasonable!

Until you step on the owners dog.
The scary thing is some people actually believe this, and NIH syndrome is unfortunately all too real lol
True, the real danger is using git reset with the --hard flag when you haven’t committed your changes lol
Except if there was only one zone of time that would be hell to program too because then you would need to check for different times of day for different locations. I think programming is just difficult lol
Non-technical project managers are the worst lol
If someone pirated the music that I spent hours working on in the space I paid rent for, I am absolutely losing a sale that could really have helped me out and, with enough of them, even let us maybe do it full time.
Do you know that though? Is someone going to buy a song just to listen to it? There’s no guarantee that they would have bought it in the first place. Also, piracy literally can increase the exposure to your music and can lead to measurably increased sales. In fact, the YouTuber penguinz0 talked about how piracy actually helped sell more copies of his comic series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJVCDD2lhH0
It’s especially true if you do it for archival copies of content you’ve already purchased.
It depends who I’m talking to and where I live. Where I live, engineer is a protected title and requires certification/etc so that takes it out of the race. That leaves the other options. Generally I am a Web Developer to people my age or younger, to people older than me I am usually a Computer Programmer but also sometimes a Developer or Software Developer instead. Realistically, I am a Full Stack Website Developer.
Referring to my job doesn’t get any easier even as someone in tech.
It’s probably against the rules.
Do what you want cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate.
As a full stack developer (more experienced in back end) working on a full stack task at work I can confirm, yes, this is very true lmao.
That would probably do it. Now you’re kind of out of luck because without root you can’t hide that you unlocked your bootloader, so you’d have to either get root or not use the app or restore to stock locked bootloader.
We have been using the forums. It’s been announced in Discord, we have a webhook that posts in our main Discord channel every time there’s a post in our main forum section. Every announcement goes to both the forums and the Discord, and the Discord announcements link to the forum posts.
We are using the forums. Our forums are still dead.
Exactly, but it’s still a helpful win regardless.
I mean, I don’t disagree with you, but our forums are dead. Our users do seem to like Discord, we also have a Matrix and IRC but those are dead too. Discord is where our users seem to flock to.
All I can really say is my experiences, and what I have seen in other cases too.
I wish Discord weren’t the giant that it was, and I wish it were open-source, but unfortunately that’s just how these things go sometimes I guess.
Again, I think another good example of this is RPCS3. They have forums that are pretty dead, and they have a Discord that has a ton of users in there.
It just so happens to be where all our users end up anyway so for us it’s been okay for the most part. Having moderator commands for frequently asked questions, and automating frequently asked questions tends to help even more. Discord also seems to work well for projects far larger than ours, ones like RPCS3 etc.
For the main project I’m a maintainer on we do have forums too but they’re pretty dead, we mostly just use Discord because that’s what everyone else seems to be using.
I swear that used to be a thing (like instead of “wontfix” it was “permanently”) or maybe I’m misremembering.
But… North Italia is a pizzeria?
Sure but it still requires trusting them when they pinky promise they won’t send any recall data. Fuck them tbh. It just makes me feel even more right about my decision to switch to Linux years ago.
