Not to rub it in, but in my forties could be read as almost the entirety of the modern web was developed during my adulthood.

I sympathize with this. People on the spectrum already have a hard time just living, then they have the extra hurdle of having a hard time communicating their hard time. It feels very human to want to hide the struggle, it makes you feel more like you belong in the world and that you are just one of the other billions out there being “normal” and doing “normal” things. That’s a longing that I’ve felt, but I’m fortunate enough to not have felt it to the degree your father seems to have. I hope you and your brother find a way to get through to him.

Does that mean on a microkernel you’d essentially have double the amount of code execution for a driver (i.e. driver makes a call to the kernel, kernel verifies and then executes rather than the driver just executing the call) meaning double the latency? Seems like it would cause a lot of problems.

Pretty much the reason I never used it on my last phone. Even went through the steps to have it recognize my voice better, and even when it hears it the first time there’s a 1 second delay before it actually starts listening, which makes me further contemplate why I bothered.

Besides, the limit of bandwidth is almost entirely artificial. Yeah, it costs some amount of money to send, say, 500 SMS messages, serve 1 GB of data, or process a 5 minute phone call. But not nearly as much as you’re paying and it’s not like they pay per SMS/GB/minute, once the infrastructure is there they pay a fairly flat amount to keep each service area running (until it’s time to upgrade but depending on where you are, that might even be publicly subsidized). So, whether you’re allowed 10 GB or 20 GB per month makes barely a dent on their cost, but getting you to pay $15 for 20 instead of $10 for 10 when $20 for 20 already isn’t an option is really good for their bottom line.
