Not to mention that Amazon search is happy to ignore most of the words in your search. So you end up sorting through pages of results that don’t match. Absolutely infuriating and one of the reasons that Amazon is my last choice now. Someone decided that it was unacceptable to show “no matching results” and lost my business.
What I do is take a capture of the page, then if they haggle on the refund I can clearly show that the product is not the one I ordered.

Yes, if you ask about a tag on a commit that you don’t have git won’t know about it. You would need to download that history. You also can’t in general say “commit A doesn’t contain commit B” as you don’t know all of the parents.
You are completely right that --depth=1 will omit some data. That is sort of the point but it does have some downsides. Filters also omit some data but often the data will be fetched on demand which can be useful. (But will also cause other issues like blame taking ridiculous amounts of time.)
Neither option is wrong, they just have different tradeoffs.

I want a browser extension where I can press the “never again” button and all links to that domain will be marked. Then I know never to click to that search result or shared link.
I’ve sort of done this manually for things like Twitter with some userStyles, but it is annoying to update and haven’t configured it on mobile. Kagi site-blocking is also great but only works from search results.

When worked at Google I remember hearing a rumor from the GMail team that more than half of all messages are rejected early in the pipeline before even running the main spam filter. As in the majority of attempts to send mail to Google users is so obviously spam that it doesn’t even end up in the Spam folder. What does land in your spam folder is a tiny fraction of all spam.

I thought that was the problem at first too. But unless there are fields that are searchable but not visible at all to end users I have definitely found many cases where the term (and no stemmed version of it etc…) was in the listing.
