If concerned about privacy you wouldn’t switch to Apple - you’d actually install a custom OS on your Android phone, since you’re allowed to do that on most phones.

Haha, this is how fast-moving open source projects work, things change constantly as they believe it’s better to just get (perceived) improvements out of the door when they’re cooked up, instead of waiting in any capacity.
Here’s my personal list of recommended apps for a few things:
Just get the regular Firefox with uBlock Origin if all you’re concerned about are advertisements. The default settings out of the box are fine for most users.
Get the Mull browser if you’re concerned about privacy as well, as this is a hardened Firefox similar to LibreWolf. Not sure if this is on the Play Store, but it’s definitely on F-Droid.
Is there a reason people go through all these steps for patching YouTube when you could just use NewPipe or LibreTube to browse YouTube without any ads, with background play, ability to download videos, and so on?
Also chipping in to give my appreciation, really enjoying Lemmy through lemmy.world!
I’ve noticed that despite setting my default view to “All” in the user settings, my default view on the home page appears to be local.
It’s not the worst thing ever, since hitting All is not a problem, just interesting it doesn’t seem to work, unless I’m missing something!
Edit: It appears to have fixed itself, so maybe there was some time for the setting to kick in, although the local tab shows highlighted.
Wouldn’t it make a lot more sense for the article title to specify it’s specifically about the US, then? The US is the only country that doesn’t do this and it’s really annoying when just browsing (especially since lemmy.world is hosted by a Dutch individual using software made by Europeans).
Your “suggestion” is far more condescending.
