Sometimes it is. Depends on what Netflix is doing. But you’re right, I usually just use my own hotspot when traveling.

Ya. Most vacation rentals will have Internet like this. They don’t want you pirating or downloading potentially illegal materials.
It’s enough to watch Netflix and Google shit and that’s about it.
They sell cats at Walmart?
Piracy has changed so much. Back when people were making the transition from p2p to torrents there was very little if any streaming sites.
Nowadays if you sneeze hard enough you’re bound to spray down some big name streaming service.
Now there are even whole front ends that allow you to stream whatever you want anytime you want even on a little, but very powerful handheld computer.
I would say that 12% is more on the low end. If you were to factor in ad blocking and the various front ends I mentioned earlier I could see that number going up much higher.
What’s more crazy is that the very ISPs that track all of our information and sell to the highest better are the same ones sending us letters and emails when we use torrents that they’ll shut off our services if we continue to pirate movies and music.
Hypocrisy at its finest.
Tell you what, I don’t really care either way. I currently have three separate streaming services. Netflix, Disney and Amazon. Including a patreon monthly subscription and one only fans I really like for a total of five.
However I want to watch The Big Bang Theory. I’m just not willing to subscribe to yet another unaffiliated streaming service for one TV show!
Just for the sake of organization and convenience I travel the high seas for the show I want to watch!
It’s not that I don’t necessarily want to pay or I want to steal the intellectual property it’s just that there’s no significant incentive for me to watch the Big bang theory outside of the way that I’m currently going to acquire it.
Wow.
It really bothers me that you’ve somehow interpreted and asserted a relationship with my friend that you have no way of knowing.
But I will entertain your naive ignorance for a moment. This friend that I’m talking about, we’ve been friends for over 20 years he gives me as much crap as I give him and our relationship is better for it.
I have literally told him that he’s acting like an idiot for using these things that are actively monitoring everything that he does. His privacy is being systematically invaded and he doesn’t care.
The reason he doesn’t care is because he likes the stuff that he uses because it’s fast and he claims there’s little lag. Personally I think this is nothing more than an excuse for being lazy by not going through the steps of setting up his software so it won’t be invading his privacy (as much).
At no point did I pressure him to change or attempt to persuade him to get an Android or to use Linux or anything else he is perfectly free to use whatever he feels is comfortable.
Nevertheless it’s just a cop out he is acting stupid by using all of this stuff that infiltrates his privacy.
It’s okay to be accepting of people and to be their friend and to also call them on their bullshit. If their feelings are hurt and it strains the relationship then its probably not a good friendship.
I mean… Ya. I fully agree. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a copout.
I have a friend that just refuses to use anything but chrome, refuses to use any kind of adblock and will only use an iPhone.
I don’t get it. I’ve asked him to explain but he just keeps saying “it’s personal preference” which is such a massive copout.
Arrrr maty
The issue with all this is the general architecture of the internet, web browsers and programming languages and such aren’t going to fundamental change just because Google needs to see more ad revenue.
The harder they try to stick with this method of profiteering the harder the push back will be. There will always be ad block as long as there are ads.
All they’re doing is showing their cards and setting themselves up for defeat!
Proton VPN stopped the stupid copy right infringement letters from my ISP. Make sure you look up servers that don’t report or respond to requests from companies that request such information from ISP’s.
I use Luxembourg. No issues for years.
Ok good so I’m not the only one!
The names of stuff. They’re weird to him. That’s the issue he’s having. Basically a complete lack of self awareness.
Why would anybody drive Chevy’s.
Don’t be an asshole.
To these people an apple isn’t an orange. They can’t tell that they’re both fruit.
Yes. They turn my internet off until I call them and someone over the phone scolds me for wanted to watch The Flash.
I still can’t figure out why ISPs are even doing this. They have no financial reason to stop piracy from happening.
Soooooo you don’t want to play solitaire Grand harvest?
Shit! I totally forgot that weed is a gateway drug.
Quick someone get me some black tar heroin!
