Just to be clear: if Netflix would have high quality versions of ALL movies and series and now the bullshit it’s turning into, I would never Pirate. Too much trouble, too much work, too expensive. Netflix would be could be easy but instead it’s getting shittier by the minute.

Over 2500 movies and over 200 series. There is a lot of todo maintenance (adding subtitles, converting some movies that are still in blueray or dvd iso) and in total some 100TB. A lot of it is lower quality, working on improving that

Edit: it’s a huge amount of work and money and I’m only doing it as a sort of hobby since netix turned to shit. Give me one provider that can show me everything from every country, whenever I want, on whatever devit I want, no gro blocking, no ad bullshit, and I’d happily pay twice, three times the amount I do now. Coincidentally, yesterday I was quickly setting up a new computer for some testing whilst talking to somebody about another so I was half distracted. I did a search for some package to install and got absolute unusable crap. I didn’t understand, tried again, tried different search parameters and it just got worse, and then I noticed that, since this was a new computer, the browser was using google.

I switched to DDG, and first page first hit was what I needed.

DDG also has been in a steady decline and apparently has been using Bing as it’s back-end now. I’d love to use a self hosted open source browser, or of not that, an open source federated search engine, akin to Lemmy, but I don’t see either coming into existence anytime soon.

Git is complicated, but then again, it’s a tool with a lot of options. Could it be nicer and less abstract in its use? Sure!

However, if you compare what goes does, and how it does, to it’s competitors, then git is quite amazing. 5-10 years ago it was all svn, the dark times. Simpler tool and an actual headache to use.

If your internet is beamed in over some radio signal somewhere then yeah, I get why it’s so shitty. Wait until it starts raining!

A ping of 100+ is slightly noticable (not counting gaming here), 200+ is very noticeable, 500+ becomes close to very annoying / unworkable for most cases. A 600 ping will be hard to even load pages. Streaming might might work, but a high ping like that usually comes with a high packet loss too, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for Netflix even…

That is literally a decade old article with basically 1 complaint that sometimes functions are strpos() and sometimes str_len(). Anything else it’s saying is “I don’t even know how to say it”. Really now? Any of your complaints have been fixed since about a decade ago, so why don’t you give it a try?
