  • Right, the previous place required them to be removed because they’re different plastics. I assume the new one just automatically cuts the top of the bottle off and discards it… probably because the people using the service couldn’t be counted on to follow directions anyway. In fact that was the reason they actually gave up on city wide recycling. Too many people trying to throw non-recyclable items in the bin (like whole ladders and baby seats and greasy pizza boxes and all sorts of stuff.) They had a line literally catch fire because someone threw a lithium ion battery in the bin.

  • I had an Athlon motherboard with voice POST messages… one night I woke up to it saying “your CPU has a problem!” over and over and was freaked out until I was completely awake and figure out what was wrong.

It wasn’t high quality coming through the piezo speaker, but it was good enough.

  • I once had a car salesman try to talk me out of ABS because the one on the lot didn’t have it. He literally told me “ABS? You only need that in an emergency!”

I replied with “I only need headlights at night and seatbelts in an accident but I want those, too.”

I can totally see them charging extra monthly charges or even a charge every time you activate the ABS.

  • It used to be really useful for following news and companies. I work in DevOps, and I used to follow AWS, Microsoft, Google, Cloudflare, etc. then I added some Sony/Playstation follows for games and such and it was super handy to see product announcements, downtime status updates for cloud computing platforms, etc.

Then my feed got filled with “you might like” instead of what I was trying to follow, so I switched to a command line “only pull my follows” script and now with the API stuff that’s just useless so I gave up.

Following random celebs and people you don’t know, on the other hand), always seemed creepy.
